Pongal
Pongal is a traditional harvest festival celebrated mainly in Tamil Nadu, including Tiruppur, to thank the Sun God and nature for a bountiful harvest. Marked by cooking the special dish “Pongal” made from freshly harvested rice, jaggery, and milk, the festival also includes decorating homes with kolams (rangolis), offering prayers, and organizing cultural events. It is a time of joy, family gatherings, and expressing gratitude for prosperity and abundance.
